Just as the stories of each issue provided their own new beautiful challenge to the writers, so each issue provided a new puzzle of how to solve a spread’s layout or a new character whose face needed to be translated to marks on pen and paper. I was brought on at first to assist with The Line while working at Peck Design Associates, and grew in this role to eventually become the lead designer for entire issues. Whether jumping in to tackle a few missing illustrations or taking on the whole mess of content, it was a joy to work on this publication.
